Fuelwise (“we”, “our”, “us”) is committed to protecting your privacy and handling your data in a transparent, lawful, and secure manner. This Privacy Policy explains in detail what information we collect, how we use it, how it is stored, and your rights in relation to your personal data when using the Fuelwise mobile application (“the App”). By using the App, you acknowledge that you have read and understood this Privacy Policy.
Fuelwise is designed to provide users with access to UK fuel price data, location-based station discovery, route-based recommendations, and analytics-driven insights to support informed decision-making. In order to provide these services effectively, a limited amount of data processing is required. We operate under the principles of data minimisation, purpose limitation, and transparency, and we do not sell personal data under any circumstances.
We may process location data if permission is granted by the user through the device operating system. This may include precise or approximate geographic location depending on the level of access granted. Location data is used to identify nearby fuel stations, calculate distances, provide route-based recommendations, determine local pricing trends, and personalise insights such as “fill now or wait” signals. Location data is typically processed in real time and is not stored beyond what is necessary to deliver the requested functionality. Where temporary storage or caching is used to improve performance, such data is short-lived and automatically overwritten or deleted. Users retain full control over location permissions and may revoke access at any time through device settings, although doing so may reduce or disable certain core features of the App.
The App may also process user-provided information such as vehicle details, including but not limited to tank size, fuel type, fuel efficiency (MPG), and any optional naming or labelling of vehicles. This information is used solely to enhance calculations within the App, including estimated fuel costs, journey fuel consumption, range estimation, and route-based savings analysis. This data is typically stored locally on the user’s device and may be synchronised within the App environment where applicable. It is not used for profiling, advertising, or any external commercial purpose.
We may collect anonymised and aggregated usage data for the purposes of improving the App’s functionality, stability, and performance. This may include information such as feature usage frequency, navigation flows within the App, session duration, and interaction patterns. We may also collect technical performance data such as crash reports, error logs, and load times. This data is not used to identify individual users and is processed in an aggregated or pseudonymised format wherever possible. The purpose of this processing is strictly limited to maintaining and improving the quality of the service.
Basic device information may be collected automatically, including device model, operating system version, application version, and general configuration data. This information is used to ensure compatibility, diagnose issues, and optimise the App for different environments. This data is not used to uniquely identify users and is not combined with other data sources to create user profiles.
Fuelwise relies on fuel price data sourced from publicly available UK retailer feeds mandated by regulatory frameworks. These datasets contain pricing and station information only and do not include personal data. We do not control the pricing data itself but process and present it within the App for user convenience. While we aim to ensure accuracy and timeliness, we do not guarantee that all data is error-free or continuously available, and users should treat all information as indicative rather than absolute.
Data processing within Fuelwise is carried out for the purposes of delivering core functionality, including displaying nearby fuel stations, enabling map-based and list-based search, calculating route-based fuel stops, generating pricing insights, and providing personalised recommendations. We may also process data to monitor performance, detect issues, prevent misuse, and ensure the security and integrity of the App. We do not engage in automated decision-making that produces legal or similarly significant effects, and we do not use data for behavioural advertising or cross-platform tracking.
We implement appropriate technical and organisational measures to safeguard data. This includes the use of secure communication protocols such as HTTPS encryption, controlled access to systems, and minimisation of stored data wherever feasible. While we take reasonable steps to protect information, no system can be guaranteed to be completely secure, and users acknowledge that data transmission over the internet carries inherent risks.
We do not sell, rent, or trade personal data. We may share limited data with third-party service providers strictly where necessary to support the operation of the App, such as infrastructure hosting, analytics processing, or mapping services. These providers are required to process data only on our behalf and in accordance with applicable data protection laws. Data may also be disclosed where required to comply with legal obligations, enforce terms, or protect rights, safety, and security.
Under applicable data protection laws, including the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR) and the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), users have certain rights in relation to their personal data. Users can manage permissions, including location access, directly through their device settings at any time. Certain features of the App may not function correctly without access to specific permissions, and the App may provide notifications or prompts to explain the impact of disabling them.
Data retention is limited to what is necessary for the purposes outlined in this policy. Personalised data such as vehicle information may be retained for as long as the App remains installed or until it is manually removed by the user. Temporary data, such as cached location or query results, is automatically cleared or overwritten as part of normal operation. Aggregated analytics data may be retained for longer periods for trend analysis and performance monitoring but does not identify individual users.
Fuelwise is not intended for use by children under the age of 13, or the equivalent minimum age in relevant jurisdictions, and we do not knowingly collect personal data from children. If it becomes apparent that such data has been collected unintentionally, reasonable steps will be taken to delete it.
The App may contain links to third-party services, including mapping or navigation tools. We are not responsible for the privacy practices of such third parties, and users are encouraged to review their respective privacy policies before interacting with those services.
We reserve the right to update or modify this Privacy Policy at any time to reflect changes in legal requirements, technology, or App functionality. Any updates will be reflected by revising the effective date above. Continued use of the App after changes are made constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
